Through systematic testing, practical application, and documented observations, PPL is building a growing body of knowledge to support informed material selection, formulation development, and the work of artists and industry practitioners.
STATUS
Project Pigment Library™ is currently in development. Initial material evaluations, research documentation, and the development of PPL-NOIR Lab LLC’s product lines are underway. The work is focused on building a documented, repeatable foundation for evaluating specialty color materials and developing products informed by evidence.
A structured approach to investigating specialty color materials, their characteristics, behavior, and application potential. Each evaluation builds a documented record of the materials examined, preparation and application methods, observations, and comparative results. This work establishes a foundation for understanding material performance, identifying meaningful differences, and informing future formulations and product development.

The lab supports the development of the Production Line Series, including solvents and other essential paint-shop materials, alongside the Effect Series Carrier and future specialty color products and aerosol applications.
